Halloween collection: 6 boccali da birra personalizzati con 6 personaggi film horror

The custom of displaying a carved pumpkin (Jack-o'-lantern) with a candle inside is tied to a Irish legend. Jack was a miserly, cunning, and drunkard blacksmith. It was in a pub that, one evening, he came face to face with the devil. Since he was there to reclaim Jack's soul, Jack came up with a ruse on the spot: he asked the devil to turn into a currency with which to pay for the last beer. The devil accepted and, immediately, Jack put it in his purse along with a silver cross to prevent him from transforming again. To get out of that embarrassing situation, the devil proposed a pact to Jack: if he had freed him he would have granted him another ten years of life. Jack accepted.

The ten years passed and, promptly, the devil came back to demand the due. Jack asked him for an apple as a last wish. The devil climbed onto an apple tree to pick the ripest and juiciest fruit but, before it had time to descend, Jack carved a cross on the trunk, pinning it to the top of the tree. After a heated argument, the devil traded the chance to come down in exchange for the salvation of Jack's soul.

Set boccali birra decorati - idea regalo per feste a tema Halloween

Until his last day, Jack devoted himself to sin so diligently that, when the time came to go up to heaven, he found the gate closed. Then he descended the road that leads to hell but, even there, he was rejected: the devil, in fact, respecting that ancient covenant, he did not want to accept it. Finding the way to heaven and hell equally blocked, Jack could not help but return to earth in the form of a damned soul. Before letting him go on his way, the devil - perhaps pitying him - gave him a burning ember which Jack placed in a pumpkin to light up his path.

Even today it can happen to meet in some dark street Jack who wanders with his luminous pumpkin in his hand, in search of peace ... if you meet him don't forget to offer him some treats: he has been wandering the length and breadth of the Earth for many years and perhaps he deserves them.

In the next post we will explain to you how to prepare a carved pumpkin to perfection, so keep following our blog!
