To make your own pumpkin, first get one with yellow skin, the best is that of an ornamental type which is not suitable for consumption, because inside it is already empty; you can still use another type of pumpkin, but you will have to empty it inside and the procedure will be a bit more demanding and laborious. We recommend a pumpkin mature and large, so it will be easier to empty, out of shape as much as possible round and with a thin skin to facilitate your engraving.
Once you have chosen the type of pumpkin, clean it well externally with a damp cloth and .. start making your engraving! With a marker - better if washable, so you can later remove any marks on the surface - mark the outline of the eyes, nose, mouth and cap.
Once done, get yourself a smooth-bladed knife and begins to carve the pumpkin in these parts starting from the cap. Be careful not to throw this part away, it will serve to close your special pumpkin! In case you find it difficult to make your carving, you can immerse it in water so that it softens: it will be then easier to work with.
Now that you have made a hole in the top, clean the inside of the pumpkin thoroughly by removing seeds and filaments, using a spoon, and then proceed by eliminating the mouth, eyes and nose as well. You just have to turn on a tea light with metal base, place it inside and ... finally give life to your Halloween pumpkin!
